NSW: Oil companies should pass savings on, country MP says
A New South Wales Labor MP says oil companies should immediately pass on a drop in
international oil prices to country families.
TONY KELLY, an Upper House MP, says petrol prices in rural areas are almost 10 cents
a litre more than in Sydney.
He says with the price of crude oil falling as low as $US28 and the Australian dollar
rebounding to 55 US cents, there should be an immediate drop of four cents per litre at
the bowser.
Mr KELLY says that when the Australian dollar plummets and the overseas oil prices
go up, consumers quickly know about it.
But when the reverse happens, it seems to take forever to see the savings passed on to motorists.
