Vic: Three die in two separate road smashes
MELBOURNE, April 6 AAP - Three people died and a fourth is fighting for life aftertwo separate accidents on Victorian roads today.
A male driver died after his car crashed into a ditch by the side of Wildwood Road,Wildwood, north west of Melbourne, about 2.50pm.
Senior Constable Tim Baker said a male passenger suffered serious injuries and wastaken to hospital.
Meanwhile, two people died and another person was seriously injured when a four-wheeldrive rolled into the Ovens River near Wangaratta in Victoria's north east.
Rural Ambulance spokesman John Mullen said the four-wheel drive was travelling on theHume Highway when it rolled and ended up partially submerged in the Ovens River.
Mr Mullen said a male passenger in his 20s, who suffered serious head and shoulderinjuries, was being transported to hospital.
He was in a serious but stable condition.
The identities of those involved in the accident are yet to be established.
Traffic on the Hume Highway has been reduced to one lane in both directions.
The deaths take the state's road toll to 106, compared to 113 at the same time last year.
