Vic: Water tower blaze mystifies firemen
MELBOURNE, Jan 12 AAP - A 30-metre high water-spray cooling tower caught fire at Mobil'sAltona refinery tonight, sending up a pall of smoke which was visible from many partsof Melbourne.
Nearly 40 firefighters took about half an hour to control the blaze, which left firefightersmystified.
"At this stage it is uncertain how water-soaked timber caught alight, but the effectwas spectacular," the Metropolitan Fire Brigade's Commander Rob Taylor said.
